Step By Step Support Services provides a 90-to-120-day structured housing and development program for at-risk and justice-involved individuals across Eastern North Carolina. Participants live in supportive housing while receiving case management, employment readiness support, financial literacy coaching, and life skills development — with a documented intake process, individualized success plan, and clear accountability structure from day one.

I have watched someone I love come home from incarceration with nothing resembling a plan. I watched them try. I watched the system offer almost nothing to help. And I watched the cycle pull them back. That experience never left me. It became a question I couldn't stop asking: why do we invest so much in punishment and so little in what comes after? Why do we release people into the same conditions that contributed to harm in the first place — and then act surprised when harm happens again?
