Why this work...
Step By Step Support Services is my answer to that question. It is built on the belief that people don't fail reentry — reentry fails people. When someone comes home with a structured plan, real skills, stable housing, and a community that holds them accountable with care, the outcomes change. The research confirms it. And I have seen it with my own eyes. We are just getting started. But the need is urgent, the model is ready, and the people we serve deserve nothing less than our full effort.
Operating philosophy
We believe people don’t need to be fixed; they need to be held by structure long enough to fix their own circumstances. That means a real bed, a real schedule, a real case plan, and outcomes we measure in writing — not vibes, not testimonies alone. We are direct, we are sober about what works, and we publish what doesn’t.
Mission
Step by Step Support Services equips justice-involved individuals ages 18 and older in Rocky Mount, NC with the cognitive, legal, and life skills needed to break the cycle, rebuild independently, and never return.To deliver the structural stability and evidence-based tracking needed to turn vulnerable individuals — adults returning from incarceration and youth aging out of state care — into independent, self-sufficient neighbors in eastern North Carolina.
